Julia Shuart
Board Member

Born and raised in Westwood, Los Angeles, Julia spent two formative years living in Germany from 1992 to 1994 before graduating from Marlborough School as part of the Class of 1998. She went on to earn dual bachelor’s degrees in Art and German from UCLA, followed by a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
Julia began her professional career at AECOM, where she spent five years working in landscape architecture and urban design. In 2008, she met her husband, Rick, and they married in 2010. Four years later, in 2014, they welcomed their first child, Freddy—the same year Julia co-founded Segal Shuart Landscape Architects with a former AECOM colleague. Their daughter, Natalia, was born in 2016. Today, Freddy is in 6th grade, and Natalia is in 4th grade.
Deeply committed to her community and to service, Julia has served on the Harvard University Graduate School of Design Alumni Council, the Westwood Community Design Review Board, and the Bel-Air Bay Club Building & Grounds Committee. She now serves on the Marlborough Alumni Leadership Board. She has also been an active member of the Westwood Hills Property Owners Association for many years, acting as the community’s liaison to UCLA.
Julia is excited to be a member of the Sister Stella Foundation and looks forward to contributing to enrichment initiatives at St. Paul the Apostle School.
