Julia Shuart

Born and raised in Westwood, Los Angeles, Julia spent two formative years living in Germany from 1992 to 1994 before graduating from Marlborough School as part of the Class of 1998. She earned dual bachelor's degrees in art and German from UCLA, followed by a master's in landscape architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

Julia began her professional career at AECOM, where she spent five years working in landscape architecture and urban design. In 2008, she met her husband, Rick, and they married in 2010. Four years later, in 2014, they welcomed their first child, Freddy—the same year Julia co-founded Segal Shuart Landscape Architects with a former AECOM colleague. Her children, Freddy and Natalia, have been at St. Paul's since DK.

Deeply committed to her community and service, Julia is an active member of the Westwood Hills Property Owners Association, the Marlborough School Alumni Leadership Board, and the Harvard-Westlake Annual Giving Committee. Julia has served on the Harvard University Graduate School of Design Alumni Council, Westwood Community Design Review Board, and the Bel-Air Bay Club Building & Grounds Committee.

Julia is proud to be a member of the Sister Stella Foundation and enjoys contributing to enrichment initiatives at St. Paul the Apostle School.
